History of Spora:
Joseph Spora arrived from Italy sometime in the 1870's. From 1879-1882 he was publican of The Sydney and Newcastle Hotel at 105 George Street. From 1884-1887 he was at The Australian Inn. From 1909-1918 he was at The Gladstone Hotel, 113 William and Palmer Street (above bottle from this era). After leaving The Gladstone Hotel he was publican at Casey's Family Hotel until his death from pneumonia in 1922.
